I bought this dress without trying it on. I NEVER do that.

It was on sale for an impulse-buy kind of price. It was pretty. It was more or less my size. It seemed like a pretty un-screw-up-able kind of silhouette. Plus, it has snaps so I can pretend I’m Superman. So I bought it.

I’m quite glad I bought it, even though it is a bit big on top. It has become one of those go-to pieces. I like that it’s sort of a print, sort of marbly tie-dye, its own thing.

This outfit is from a little while ago, when Boyfriend was still in town. We belong to a CSA, so I begged him to take some outfit pictures on our walk back home from getting the veggies. Gratuitous veggie picture? I’m so glad you asked.

Come ON. how gorgeous is that? I love vegetables.

I need to learn to cook. Boyfriend is the cook in our house, and he’s gone til December. The CSA is still going strong, and I have all these GORGEOUS vegetables in my fridge every two weeks. Something’s gotta give. I need to learn to make things other than bare-bones salad and pasta.

I am aware that I have been saying some variation of that my entire life. I envy people who find pleasure in cooking. I understand the ritual, the joy in that, but I get easily distracted, inevitably screw something up, and wind up annoyed.

Plus, chopping onions makes me cry harder than when I don’t fast forward through Sarah MacLachlan singing to the sad animals on TV. Too much? Sorry. What makes you cry harder than chopping onions? Or are you lucky enough to not be a wimp like me?

Those flowers matched some of the colors in my dress. Plus I had an excuse to use the “vivd blues and greens” setting on my camera. I love a plant-covered wall of an apartment building. It’s so pretty. It’s not my building, but it’s nearby. It makes me feel swoony, as if I was the kind of person Juergen Teller might want to shoot.

(hey, a girl can dream.)
