Something about this lamppost moved me to take pictures of it.
It’s that juxtaposition of the old and the new that New York does so brilliantly that moves me every time.
I found this lamppost on 114th st, near the church where we pick up our CSA veggies. We took a walk down Riverside and there it was.
Who knows how old the lamp was, how long it had been there. But there it was, old and sort of tilted to one side, with a compact fluorescent bulb.
I love that. I love finding new things in my neighborhood. I love looking at physical evidence of old and new coexisting.
Makes it not seem so impossible, right?
