adeandabet:
Zielschmerz
n. the exhilarating dread of finally pursuing a lifelong dream, which requires you to put your true abilities out there to be tested on the open savannah, no longer protected inside the terrarium of hopes and delusions that you created in kindergarten and kept sealed as long as you could, only to break in case of emergency.

Not Doing Anything Thursday Night?
…always wanted to hear me sing for yourself?
Now’s your chance!
Not singing here, but you get the picture. (photo by Saum Eskandani)
This coming Thursday at 11, I’ll be one of the featured guests at Ben Cameron’s weekly Broadway Sessions!
I’ll sing a couple of songs, we’ll play some games, it’ll be a rockin’ good night for all!
It’s...

Araks Spring 2012
I wasn’t familiar with Araks before attending her presentation, but she will now be on my radar. She showed light, sheer, floating-into-the-air dresses, amazing structured pants and jackets in vibrant colors, an equisite use of prints- clothes I really want to wear, and can easily see a lot of girls wearing.
I want to wear all of these clothes.
stunning.
Clearly, this dress...

Only During Fashion Week...
…can this outfit be described as “simple.”
yeah. this outfit. Seriously! I was waiting to cross the street near Lincoln Center, and a guy turned to me and said “I love your look- it’s just so simple and elegant.”
A very sweet compliment, and I guess, considering the week and the other outfits around, simple, but simple?
Sometimes outfits come to me in the...

Christian Siriano S/S 2012
All in all, I really enjoyed his collection- I loved the play on textures he did- some of the volume of the gowns was unbelievable! The colors were vibrant and well-mixed, and I enjoyed his showing of more formal, almost princess-y skirts with t-shirts.
a whole bunch of photos:
obsessed with the detail on that skirt.
My favorite part of the show was his...

Broadway Neighbor Thursdays with Al
When Silbers attack, you should just pose. It’s easier that way.
Okay, just one Silber. Al, to be exact.
And she attacked me, as she always does, with her whole-hearted, full-out, grab-life-by-the-balls and run with it beautiful self.
We had this thing on Thursdays. Since we were Broadway Neighbors, I would finish my matinee, get some food, and meet Al at the Starbucks on 47th and...

The End Of The Beginning
Last show tonight.
I have no words for everything this experience has meant to me, how it has pushed me and challenged me in ways I never thought would happen, how it felt to live a dream eight shows a week in the greatest city in the world.
How it felt to be surrounded by genius on a daily basis, to come to work every day knowing that I would leave work with so much more. To be enriched by...

confoundandconfused asked: So, I have been trying to change my style for a few months now. I'm so used to wearing tee shirts, I'm trying to dress classier and more mature, I love your sense of fashion. Any tips on how to leave old habits behind and dress more unique? And perhaps any cheap/great stores to find outfits for the party/night scene? :)

Bill Cunningham
…took a picture of this outfit.
I just about fell over on 7th ave when I saw him.
There I was, walking to the train from PT, and I spotted him. He was there, on 7th and 39th, with his bike, his blue shirt, and his camera, snapping away.
We made eye contact. He took my picture.
I can totally die happy now. Bill Cunningham took my picture.

Costumes
I don’t believe in wearing costumes to auditions. Dressing with a suggestion of knowing who the character is and showing that you’ve done your research is fine, full-out costumes are not fine and will get you put into the crazy-person file. There is always a crazy-person file. You do not want to be in that file.
I do, however, believe in wearing costumes in everyday life.
I woke...

Lucite in the Sky With Diamonds →
for those of you who don’t know, I have an obsession with Lucite things. A pretty absurd obsession. I have Lucite barstools in my kitchen, a really amazing Lucite candelabra courtesy of Boyfriend’s mom, Lucite silverware (a wedding shower gift to my parents now finding its way into their child’s kitchen- I love it), Lucite jewelry boxes (how else will I see what’s...

Urban Trendwhoring
It’s kind of like Urban Rebounding, only more walking-around-in-a-big-floppy-hat trying not to feel dumb because you know it makes the outfit SO MUCH better. Also, sometimes unabashed trendwhoring is a LOT of fun.
Totally pretending I’ve been stopped by some fabulous street style photographer, not awkwardly setting up my self timer in broad daylight and looking around, wanting to...

Debatability
I never know what to wear this shirt with. It seems to me like it’s a shirt better worn with pants since it exposes so much, but it was too hot out to wear any sort of pant. Until recently. It’s debatable.
These pants are also a little debatable. They’re slightly too big, and I can’t tell if they’re just too-big-too-big or slouchy-adorable-too-big. Also debatable....

Tunnel
Boyfriend found this really cool tunnel in midtown. I had never seen it before, and I’ve been working in various parts of midtown for years. Shows how much I know about things in midtown.
It’s weird, finding beauty in the places you tend to avoid. I guess I don’t really explore it much because it’s too crowded- midtown makes my crazy activate just a little bit. I get...

Watercolor
I bought this dress without trying it on. I NEVER do that.
It was on sale for an impulse-buy kind of price. It was pretty. It was more or less my size. It seemed like a pretty un-screw-up-able kind of silhouette. Plus, it has snaps so I can pretend I’m Superman. So I bought it.
I’m quite glad I bought it, even though it is a bit big on top. It has become one of those go-to...

Dots!
I’ve had these shorts for a long time now, and they never fail to make me a kind of happy that is a bit embarrassing. There’s just something about them-
They make me feel like I’m a dancer in an old movie musical, one of those showbiz movie musicals where the showgirls are seen in their downtime clothes, always impeccably put together and wearing things like adorable...

Inspired By
I, like most people I know, play a lot of dress-up in the privacy of my own home. This drives Boyfriend crazy when he’s in town, because it makes the apartment look like the Barney’s Warehouse Sale on the last two days when the discounts are the deepest.
Only slightly less high-end.
Playing all of this dress-up results in a lot of fun and crazy outfits. I might be more willing to...

Ikat Fairy
I totally feel like a fairy in that picture. Way more delicate than I am in real life.
Summer Parties.
Summer parties at beautiful houses upstate with amazing people who make me nervous because they are so amazing, in gauzy linen and silk that make me feel a hell of a lot fancier than i actually am. Yes, I am aware that that wasn’t a full sentence. It’s okay, though.
I am pretty...
Anonymous asked: hi! so I was wondering.. you do a dance-heavy show (an understatement!) in character shoes, and you wear all these tall heels and wedges...how do you keep circulation in your feet? I have a job that involves wearing/ dancing in character shoes for long hours, and every day my toes are absolutely numb. how do you keep your feet alive without walking around in sneakers when not doing the show?

I do still wear stuff sometimes.
I swear. I actually do. Here’s the mega-upload of things I’ve been storing on my computer for…oh, god. Months, now.
jacket: Urban dress: Anthropologie belt: Rebecca socks: so very old wedges, which have now been sent to the great shoe store in the sky: MRKT

Hi Friends.
I apologize for my lack of being around again. It’s the first day in a long time that I’ve been able to put my head above water. Not in a bad way, in the greatest way possible-
These pictures are a dream come true. Jeremy Daniel is a genius.
also, a fun interview on Playbill for those who are interested in reading my silly thoughts on the show:

Anonymous asked: you have such an amazing fashion sense! I love your blog. I was wondering if you knew any fashion tricks for making a "long torso, shorter legs" figure look more balanced/leggy.
